Poppy needs your help

(pics of poppy in better days)

My pup, Miss Poppy Flower, is seriously ill. After multiple blood tests, multiple x-rays, and a procedure which extracted synovial fluid from her joints and is currently being cultured, the docs are gravely concerned. This once 45 pound dog is now 28 pounds and continuing to lose. The docs think an expensive MRI is in order followed by surgery and rehab. I am asking for as much help as I can get because I have a pretty good idea that it is going to be a long and costly haul. My last pups illness set me back $10k. eeek! But I would be forever grateful even to raise just $1k so that she can have her MRI. I have never done this before. Never asked for $$ online, never asked for money from friends, but a friend gave me the suggestion after her kitty was very sick and she had to raise $$ for her kitty's vet expenses. If it wasn't for my bills from my last pup's decline from October to March, my surgery in April, and now Poppy's two back-to-back illnesses which began in April this wouldn't be an issue. The last few months have just broke me.

Thank you all for your consideration. Anything you can give, even $5, even $1, would help so much. And social networking regarding this cause would be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much!!!!

  2. oh, hun, thank you so much. i don't really know how to promote this so i'm not sure how much i will be able to raise, but every single little bit helps and is beyond appreciated. i need to figure out how to spread the word on this, but am not sure how.

i'm also looking into other online options and organizations that help out with vet bills for seriously ill pups so that they don't have to be put down for lack of funding. i'll be talking to my vets next week and am hoping they can put together an extensive treatment plan and estimate so that I may submit it to these angel charitable organizations. I am so, so grateful for jesterfunnyboox for bringing these to my attention. I would have never even entertained that help was possible. I was seriously thinking of selling my car and trying to figure out how I can get around without a car. I'll do anything for this dog.

Once again, thank you so, so, so much!!!! Just the gesture alone warms my heart. You are an angel!!!

    xoxo Lisa

  3. I wish you the best. If we weren't on such a tight budget I would contribute. I will at least try after I get paid again. I'm so sorry that you are having to do this and I hope you are able to get this treatment your pup needs.

  5. aww Lisa, hopefully you won't have to sell everything. do vets have payment plans at all? i don't even know how these things work but i better get educated as i'll likely be in a similar position one day. i really hope there is some kind of help out there for you to help you get through this. i will be donating something, not as much as i wish i could though but i will do what i can. lots of love lady! xoxo

  6. Lisa, I am so sorry about Poppy's illness and it is a huge worry on how to pay the vet bills. I hope you find a solution. I have donated just a little something to the cause and have tweeted to try and raise awareness.

  7. Trellisaze, not vet's do not have payment plans. They require payment in full or give you the option to open a medical credit card which I am not eligible for due to my last dog's illness. it makes me seriously question having a pet unless you have a current nest egg, but my nest egg has been blown to bits due to the multiple dog illnesses and my surgery over the past few months. i still have my wheel up for sale and will sell it if need be. trying to think of other things i can unload too.... thank you so much for everything and your donation. if we surpass what is needed for the medical care, i will be sending refunds to the donators. xoxoxo Lisa

Knitcave/Helen, Thank you so much for your contribution and your fiber purchase. Every bit helps and warms my heart. Thank you so much for tweeting about it!!!!!! xoxo Lisa

  9. Thanks emwall. Seeing your loved ones sick, furry or human, is the worst.

The weird thing is that only 3 1/2 weeks ago Poppy was a frisbee loving, toy squeeking, ball fetching, rolling-on-grass loving dog. It just came out of nowhere and has been progressing rapidly. The vets think that this illness might have been "festering" for a while now and has just now become symptomatic.

Thank you for the healing thoughts. We really appreciate them. :)
